If you thought my Toomer’s Lemonade recipe was good, wait until you try this Prickly Pear Lemonade recipe! WOW! (*insert heart eyes emoji*)

This recipe takes your average lemonade to the next level. It combines the perfect amount of sour with sweet.  

I believe I said this in my Toomer’s Lemonade recipe, but I like my lemonade on the sour side. I believe that is why I took such a liking to Toomer’s. Boy was it sour! If you prefer sweeter lemonade, start by adding ½ C of sugar and go from there.

Although we are almost into fall, it is still hotter than Satan’s booty here in Texas, and this lemonade is just what you need to quench your thirst! Enjoy!

Prickly Pear Lemonade

Tasty lemonade with the extra unique flavor from the prickly pear!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup prickly pear juice
  • 4 cups white sugar
  • 2 cup hot water
  • 2.5 cups Fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 4.5 cups cold water
  • Ice to top it off

Instructions

  • Place sugar and hot water in a large bowl or pitcher and stir until sugar dissolves.
  • Add lemon and prickly pear juice and stir. If any sugar didn’t dissolve it should dissolve now.
  • Add cold water. Stir.
  • Chill in refrigerator or serve over ice. Enjoy!

Who doesn’t love a tall glass of lemonade on a hot summer day? This is especially true if you live in the south.

I went to Auburn for college, and while I know everyone doesn’t know about the greatness of Toomer’s Corner…honestly you really should 😊.

Rolling Toomer’s Corner (aka throwing toilet paper all over the almost 100-year-old oak trees that line the street) after a big sports win is one of the coolest traditions in college sports! But that wasn’t my favorite part about it. My favorite part was Toomer’s Drugs.

Toomer’s Drugs is a little shop on the edge of the corner that has been around since 1896! Not only was the tradition of having a little drug store that has been around since the 1800s cool, but that drug store sells the best lemonade ever created! Whenever I had classes that sent me over that way, or I had family in town I HAD to go get some.

Because I no longer live in Alabama, I don’t get to drink that heavenly lemonade anymore. I decided I needed to fix that.

I made a copycat recipe of Toomer’s Lemonade and its pretty gosh darn good! While my version doesn’t come with the nostalgic atmosphere of my alma mater, it does come with the sweet and sour deliciousness that is their lemonade without the plane ticket. I hope you guys enjoy this little part of my Southern college experience as much as I did!

Toomer's Copycat Lemonade

My favorite kind of nostalgic lemonade!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups White Sugar

  • 1.5 cups Fresh squeezed lemon juice ~2lbs or 7 lemons
  • 4.5 cups cold water
  • Ice to top it off

  • Add lemon juice and stir. If any sugar didn’t dissolve it should dissolve now.
  • Add cold water. Stir.
