It is SO easy and delicious and would work with any of the ground big game in your freezer.</p><p class="p1">The chopped cheese is a relatively new dish to New York, but it is a star when it comes to flavor.</p><p class="p1">When researching them, I found that many bodegas use turmeric in their ground meat and WOW! What a game changer. To me, it gives it the extra layer of flavor that comes with your favorite greasy burger place. Tumeric is also in Adobo seasoning which was another common theme in both recipes and bodegas. Adobo has turmeric, garlic powder, salt, oregano, and black pepper. It is a phenomenal all purpose seasoning. I used sazon with the addition of onion powder and turmeric. However, I would personally interchange either. Both are delicious and will give you amazing results. AND, if you have a tried and true burger seasoning, you can also use that.</p><p class="p1">As for toppings, I used the traditional shredded lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mayo combination. But if you are a mustard guy or pickle fanatic or want to spice it up with some jalapeños or even more onions? Go right on ahead. The fun thing about this dish is it is really hard to mess up. Got your meat too brown? Adds another flavor profile to the dish. Toasted your bread too much? Add more sauce to help soften the bread. It really is fool proof. Plus, it cooks up SO FAST!</p><p class="p1">Overall, this recipe is amazing because the cheese melts into the meat so every bite is full of cheese-y goodness. The toasted bread gives a little crunch, but is soft and soaks up all of the cheese and juices.</p><p class="p1">I love burgers and this truly is my new favorite way to make them at home.</p><p class="p1">Please give this recipe a try! Do this by heating a skillet or large enough pan over medium heat. Once hot, add butter and some minced garlic. I did ~1T butter and 1/2 tsp garlic per hoagie. Once the butter is melted, place the inside of the bread face down. I slid the bread around the pan to make sure all the butter was soaked up and then I placed a bacon press on top to flatten the bread some and get a good even browning (~1-2min). I have learned that my meat is seasoned enough when it is combined and I can smell seasoning. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p data-start="129" data-end="443">This Venison Loco Moco recipe is one I’ve been working on for years, and when Hawaii came up on my States Wheel, I knew it was finally time to perfect it. There’s just something about Loco Moco with a layer of rice, a juicy venison patty, flavorful gravy, and a golden runny egg that feels like a warm hug in a bowl.</p>
<p data-start="445" data-end="776">Loco Moco has always been one of my ultimate comfort meals. Being 1/64th Hawaiian, I really wanted to do this dish justice and capture the flavors that make it so special. The gravy especially took the longest to get right. It ties everything together in the best way.</p>
<p data-start="778" data-end="1066">I’m genuinely proud of how this turned out. It’s the perfect way to use your venison or any big game meat and turn it into something hearty, flavorful, and a little bit nostalgic. Every bite brings that balance of salty, rich, and satisfying that makes you want to lick the plate clean.</p>
<p data-start="1068" data-end="1268">And if you’re short on time (just between us), go ahead and grab that brown gravy packet. No judgment here, it will still taste absolutely delicious. Cooking should be approachable, not complicated.</p>

This recipe makes a lot of sauce and meat! BUT- you can use any leftover sauce in a pasta later. Throw it in a bowl with some penne pasta, cheese, and anything else you love, and it makes any easy second dinner/meal!</p><p class="MsoNormal">This recipe came to me in a dream, and I do have to say my husband was a bit skeptical. But I am stubborn, and I knew it sounded good, so I pressed on! And, as much as I loved it, my sweet husband kept asking why I didn’t make more! It is really that good!</p><p class="MsoNormal">This is also a great way to hide vegetables! Your kids will never know the sauce on this pizza came from a squash! I focused on the edges that would not be covered by sauce. </span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-3982-step-3-3" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Top with sauce, then cheeses, then meat (venison and prosciutto) and caramelized onions. Finally add a few off the crispy sage leaves.</span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-3982-step-3-4" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Cook either in oven according to packing directions or in your pizza oven. Every pizza oven is slightly different. We have a Gozney that is powered by propane and it takes about 40 seconds before we need to flip sides or until the charring/leoparding starts to happen.</span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-3982-step-3-5" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Repeat for as many pizzas as desired! 									<p class="p1">Venison Pupusas has been on my list of recipes to try for forever and these turned out amazing!</p><p class="p1">You would think the main food I would miss when moving away from San Antonio might be the Mexican food or the BBQ, but its the pupusas! My family had an El Salvadorian place we loved right outside of San Antonio in Boerne, TX called <a href="https://casaamayapupuseria.com/">Casa Amaya Pupuseria &amp; Taqueria</a>. They serve authentic delicious El Salvadorian food and the people working there are so nice.</p><p class="p1">Since I am in New Orleans now I decided I would have to make some pupusas myself to make up for it! If you’ve never heard of pupusas before, they are little fried circles of deliciousness! Most people probably think of masa only being used in <a href="https://wifeofahunter.com/venison-tamales/">tamales</a>, but I might like it in this application even better.</p><p class="p1">The only thing a little hard about this dish is getting the right ratio of masa to meat and cheese. It is just like <a href="https://wifeofahunter.com/venison-tamales/">tamales</a>, in that you might overload it with masa the first few times because you are afraid of breaking them. But give it a couple dozen and you will be throwing it back like any abuelita can (not really though but its a good start lol)!</p><p class="p1">I paired these with some <a href="https://wifeofahunter.com/salsa-roja/">Salsa Roja</a> and <a href="https://wifeofahunter.com/curtido/">Curtido</a> and oh my goodness it was amazing! My husband had actually planned on dropping some extra off at one of his classmates houses, but they ended up disappearing somehow… Overall I hope you guys ENJOY these as much as my husband and I did!</p>								</div>

This will create a better dough to filling ratio.</span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-3909-step-1-3" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Bring edges together and enclose your filling with the dough. This can get messy but don&#39;t worry! Practice makes perfect. Once you have a rounded ball of enclosed filling, press the ball flat to ~1/4-3/4 inch thick. These should be about palm size. The thinner the crispier the better. Do not worry about cracks! They might not be as pretty but they will still taste delicious!!!</span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-3909-step-1-4" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">In a deep frying dish, add oil to coat the bottom of the pan (keep the oil out you will need to add more as you go). Heat oil over medium high heat. Once hot, add 1-2 pupusas at a time, do not overcrowd the pan. Once they start to get nice brown spots, flip them over. Once done, remove and place on a paper towel lined plate. My dish is not fermented so it is not the same as your traditional Curtido. With how busy my husband and I are, and how slam packed our refrigerator is with Thanksgiving food, I went with a slightly faster approach.</p><p class="p1">My Curtido is more of a quick pickle. This works with the vinegar giving it some tanginess,<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>that you would normally get from a few days of fermentation. Granted it is not traditional and the flavor is coming from different chemical reactions, but this is much faster for people making dinners on the fly!</p><p class="p1">So if you are looking for an authentic Curtido I would suggest looking elsewhere, but if you want something quick to pair with your <a href="https://wifeofahunter.com/venison-pupusas/">Venison Pupusas</a> give it a try!</p>								</div>

<p>David and I recently moved to New Orleans where he is in medical school at Tulane University. I grew up coming to Louisiana often as my mother grew up in both Metarie and Belle Chase and both my parents studied/played sports at Tulane. My god parents also live on the North Shore, so one might say Louisiana is my second home. This being said, Cajun food was and still is a staple in my family. Red beans and rice were often had on Mondays growing up. I learned what Gumbo was before I was potty trained. So when we first moved into our house and I finally had a kitchen to start creating recipes in again, I knew my first recipe needed to be a staple in the Cajun culture.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>Po&#8217;Boys are inherently Cajun. They ooze the New Orleans spirit as if they were Mardi Gras beads in food form. You cannot go to a real Cajun restaurant and not have a po&#8217;boy&nbsp; on the menu. And the most Cajun of them all is Roast Beef debris. The moist meat is something you get from hours of cooking. The flavors are only something the New Orleans&#8217; Voodoo Queen could&#8217;ve created herself. They really are impeccable.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Now that I had decided on what I wanted to create, I wanted it to be something easy. I am extremely busy right now with work and David in medical school, so I needed a leave it and forget it recipe. But, how was I going to get the tender, flavorful meat in an easy way?&nbsp;</p>
<p>I researched all of the hard ways to do to make it, with hours of slaving over a stockpot, and decided on a browned in a skillet and low and slow cooker method. This insured the flavor would be cooked in, but you wouldn&#8217;t have to chew for hours on every bite taken.&nbsp;</p>
<p>This recipe is perfect and will become a staple in your home. I hope you enjoy this recipe and feel that Cajun spirit in your home!</p>								</div>

Bolognese is such a tasty Italian meal and it immediately popped in my head, and I thought there would be no better way to make it than with the <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="https://wifeofahunter.com/venison-pan-sausage/">Venison pan sausage</a></span> from my very first recipe!</p><p>But for real, this pasta is absolutely amazing. I am not just tooting my own horn. I have made this dish multiple times for a bunch of different people and they all have loved it! I do have to warn you though, it makes a ton!! But don’t worry, those leftovers will be eaten too 😊. Add minced veggies and cook til brown (~3-5min) adding in salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, a pinch of red pepper flakes.</div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-889-step-0-2" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Once the desired color, add pesto tomato paste. Cool until a dark maroonish red color ~5 min. Remove from pan and put in a dish to be used later.</span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-889-step-0-3" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Add meats to the pan that was just used. Break up the meat and combine. Once browned drain oil off and return to pan. </span></div></li><li id="wprm-recipe-889-step-0-4" class="wprm-recipe-instruction" style="list-style-type: decimal;"><div class="wprm-recipe-instruction-text" style="margin-bottom: 5px;"><span style="display: block;">Add the tomato paste mixture and mix well. Add pasta sauce and mix well. Add cheese mixture and mix till combined. Add a dash of heavy cream (until desired pink color)*.
